A Psammead is a grumpy, ancient, wish-granting Sand Fairy with snail like eyes, bat like ears and a chubby body covered in fur! When the Sand Fairy grants his wishes he stretches out his eyes, holds his breath and swells alarmingly (which takes a lot of energy and rarely goes well)! The Sand Fairy is found by Five children (Cyril, Anthea, Robert,Jane and their baby brother). He grants them a wish a day, but emphasises that their wishes will turn to stone at sunset!The children WISH for so much more.....Do they get what they want?....
